Gift horse that bites back...

Now who's insulting who here?  We go out and I ask all the guys at The Pits
to 'keep an eye out' so we can get stuck in to SCGT as soon as possible.  I
spend about an hour downloading it, then go and race it for 2 hours while
the demo is uploading to The Pits, testing out as many different options as
I can, as a good reviewer should.  I figure that I might as well get a
review up as soon as possible so others can see what I thought of it, and
then spend another hour writing up the review, adding the pictures, posting
it and the demo, only to have GA Sports to tell me (within 20 minutes, I
might add) that I have to remove the link to the demo because they 'own' it
for another 12 hours.

I *like* the demo.  I think it's great.  And many of the people who have
emailed me about it (and posted here) like it too...what, are they all paid
by EA?  Is this the *** of the year in sim racing?  Sure, there are
problems...it's a DEMO.  Image Space has told us at The Pits they want to
see feedback, they want to work with the consumer...what more do you want?
A tech rep at your house?  Whether they live up to it or not remains to be
seen, but they are making the effort, so I'm more than happy to help a
decent demo to become a great sim...

Then YOU come along, don't agree with my review, insult my 'opinion' AND my
website, and throw it all out to 'corperate influence'.  FYI, we have had
emails between us and Image Space, but they pay us nothing, we get no nice
handouts from them, nor do we have any contacts with EA.

If this is your attitude to someone who does all this for FREE, well, get a
grip.  Never look a gift horse in the mouth, as they say, and obviously, you
were expecting a pedigree.

I think that would be an improvement over the current MS site at least - you
might find something quicker :-)

I'd like to say Jan, that I've always loved The Pits and am sorry to see so
many people giving you static over the SCGT bit, and other stuff.  Sucks to
give so much to the simracing community over the years and get accused of
bias, being paid off, etc. when your opinion doesn't match someone else's.
Keep up the good work, some of us appreciate it a lot !

Jan,  I do appreciate all of the work you and the Pits have done for Sim
racing.  Frankly I don't know why you do it especially when you get all this
garbage from people out there.  Keep up the good work, please.

Gift horse that bites back...

Hi Jan,

There have been some rather hotheaded and abusive people*** out
in r.a.s. in the last few months, with threats of mailbombing and viruses
floating around and all, and even in VROC with rail-riders and verbally
abusive idiots.

I would say this is a symptom of the growing popularity of r.a.s. and
sim racing overall, as more people get involved you get a mix of good
and bad people.

You and the rest of the pits team have always done a terrific service for
the sim racing community (I especially loved TPTCC), and those of us who have
been here all along know this and ignore/kill-file the abusive people as
they show how just how ignorant they are in their posts, ignoring these
people allows us to continue enjoying this great newsgroup and community.

Meanwhile I would suggest you do the same, ignore these people and keep
on doing the great job you have always done with The Pits, it surely is
appreciated by the majority of us out here in the sim racing community.

Seeyas on the track.

Amen to that, Ken...given they are probably using Frontpage, everytime I get
a Frontpage document and load it up in my TEXT html editor, I end up usually
stripping
about 1/2 the code from it...and it looks just as good if not better!  ;]

Cheers!
