Went to the maul in Hadley MA last weekend and found a new 4-player
sit-down game there that looks a lot like their horrid "Daytona USA"
knock-off but this one's for Indycars and surprise surprise has a
pretty faithful rendition of IMS as one of its tracks.

It also has a couple fictional twisty tracks but I didn't get to try
these.

They screwed up at Indy somehow though, the car always breaks loose
heading into the corners.  I saw some people downshifting from 6th to
5th going into the corners (sequential shifter) but I tried that and
it didn't help much.  If it was my game I'd pit and have the crew
crank some serious rear wing into that crate.

I only played it a couple-three times so there is no in-depth
analysis.

However, it's something to check out, unless of course you're
boycotting all that is Sega because they're keeping a couple fine
tracks from being added to the world's finest racing sims for the PC.
And if you're doing that, I can't say I blame you.  This Indy game at
the arcade doesn't do IMS the justice that Papyrus could nowadays.

Its been in the UK for a while now m8.  I've been on it about 20times
now at Sega World near me.  Kewl game.  Indy is a bit shitty cause the
other cars are way to SLOW!!!  The street circuit is wicked though!!

Thanks,

Andrew.

Yep, cool game. For the street circuits I play them in auto gear and just
mash the brakes. Did you know you can get to run the track in
mirror/reverse mode by holding one of the view buttons down before
selecting your *** with the accelerator? The other one would let you
drive the pace car. It DEFINITELY handles different, but more
cool......to see people stare at me driving a sedan alongside
openwheelers. Most guys don't know these tricks.

There is another game you MUST watch out for. And that's Segaut not very
Touring Car Championships. Cool graphics, really fluid, tough gameplay,
but not very realistic......I couldn't tell the difference between a 4WD
Opel Calibra and a RWD Toyota Supra.....they suffered understeer going
into corners before suddenly oversteering. But I will definitely play it
again! By the way, you start by doing a qualifying lap, then proceed in a
fashion similar to Sega Rally.

True, it is very unrealistic, but here's how you handle it, it takes
much much much counter steering, nearly like spridgets. You can get around
the track in 6th at full gas no problem. you have to get a rhythm in
the corners where the instant you feel (or hear tire screech) the back
end getting loose, just counter steer, and back again, probably 3 or 4
times thru a corner is normal, then you can get low 35 sec laps I think
