THEFAST.
It seems to be a 50/50 split between those it does work for and those
it doesn't.
Heres a thought for you...
As THEFAST shifts your Video BIOS into RAM it should make video
transfers quicker.
Having built and maintained a large number of PC's over the past 5 years
I always set the "Shadow Video BIOS" option on the PC's to On or Enabled
in the BIOS settings at boot up.
If you do find that THEFAST does speed up your FPS rate, its possible
that video bios shadowing is off on your machine.
Shadowing the bios from hardware, rather than using THEFAST should
theoretically give you an even better increase in frame rate.
Just two things though...
Many people have said that using THEFAST on Pentium systems has no
affect or causes crashing. This could be due to the PCI video cards
that many Pentiums use. Many PCI cards automatically shadow themselves
whether thhe bios says so or not and I believe that sometimes THEFAST
can***up this process and cause the crashes.
Secondly, I take no responsibility for anything that happens if you do
change the settings in your BIOS!!!( although if you just stick to the
Video Shadowing Option, not much can really go wrong.)
