50 down 215 to go here ;) It's a slow go though. Started at 22KB/sec and now
down to 17KB/sec. Wonder what it will be in 3 hours...

The site is up in fact and has been for the whole day. It is just that there
are so many connection attempts that not nearly all of them are getting
through.

Took me a over 12 hours to get it, despite being on cable. It was

connections and looking for faster ones, and as a result I was sucking
the data through a straw for more than 10 hours. I tried to get it to
lock onto a good host, but it wouldn't do it. I think the average
transfer rate came out to about 1 kB/s. You could do better with a 28 k
modem. I am going to have to figure out how to configure GetRight so it
doesn't do that. Either that or start using something else.

Go to the getright configuration and set the "limits". Change it to 1
files or segments at the same time.

Thanks for your reply, but I'm not sure I want to do that. In most
other cases using multiple segments has helped. The problem is the way
that it selects the servers for each segment. While I don't want it to
hang onto a server that is giving me a slow download rate, I also don't
want it to drop that server until it has a working connection to a
faster one. It also for some reason would occasionally drop valid
mirrors for no apparent reason. There were even a couple of times when
I manually pointed it at a good mirror, the rate went up for a few
minutes, and then it dropped back down to 1 kB/s. Very strange.

I'm on a 56k so I only download 1 segment/file at a time. But I guess
if you're on a cable connection, it would be better to have more
segments/files to max out the transfer. I downloaded the GTR2002 mod
from the racesim link with 1 segment at my friends house with cable
and it downed it in 2.5 hours. I say try to find a better server to
get it from. There must be one. If everyone shared their GTR2002.exe
on kazaa or some file sharing program, we wouldn't have these
problems. Hey if it works for *** and mp3, it should work for mods
too :)
