MY ISDN EXPERIENCE

ISDN, It Works Great! Ok, Here I am setting in Ruskin Florida. We are
best known for rasing tomatoes.
Telephone lines and electricity is new here. He He, Almost. So I was
setting here with 2 really bad dial up
lines. The cost of these two lines from GTE is about $50.00 a a month.
So i called the Telephone line and
they said. We can replace the two lines with one ISDN line that has two
lines inside it. You see an ISDN
line has 2 64K circuit or 2 analog lines however you want to operate it.

So I say yes, did the ISDN, and
bottom line is we have doubled our speed and cut my latency by 80ms and
it cost me $0.00 more a month.
Oh yes the Telephone company did finance the 128K ISDN modem over 3
years, about $3.00 a month.

Important all the above improvement was made using my 56K modem on the
ISDN line, and its operating at
49,333Bps. I havent even started using the ISDN modem yet, cant wait.
You see you can go ISDN LINE
and get a great improvement without going ISDN modem and paying the ISP
ISDN connection rate. Any
Questions, just email Don Wilshe! Cable Modems are great, but you might
still have a latency problem as
its not dedicated like ISDN or ADSL, its time shared with thousands of
other cable subscribers!

ISDN is great.  The only problem is the expense...

Here in Northern ***ia, Bell Atlantic charges close to corporate
rates for residential ISDN.

They advertise $45 per month for 60 b-channel hours, which is already a
rip-off.  They don't tell you about the other $20 in taxes, tarrifs, and
whatever when you sign up.  You find out when you get your first bill!

ISDN costs me $100, with the ISP, for 60 b-channel hours.  Terrible.

But, I like it so much I can't bring myself to discontinue it.

Until, of course, cable or ADSL (long wait) becomes available, then it's
OUTTA here :)

Great connections, consistant, but unfortunately very overpriced.

Guess I'm lucky here.  In Indiana, I pay $47 for this dual channel
line and it's a flat rate.  As you said, this will do until something
better comes along.  Probably be another year and a half before we
have cable internet or adsl in this area.
