This is pretty cool, I just downloaded it tonight, and am surprised
that my CTS Setups work pretty well with the physics.  I know it is
built on those physics, but it is a pretty cool mod.  I enjoy it.

It uses the EXACT same physics - that's why it works so well :)

Where did those cars race? I remember that very old NASCARs from the 60s or
70s hat those large wings, but in 1988?

I'm not an expert but here goes...
The winged cars were called slangily the "super birds"- the Dodge 'Daytona'
most notably..I'm not sure but I don't think they ran after 1970...they were
designed to compete (and win) and the superspeed ways (Daytona and
Talladega) and  generally didn't make appearances outside those two track.
(Although I believe Petty did race once or twice at a dirt track in a
Superbird)
The Superbirds were factory cars supplied to primarily to the Petty team but
several other top drivers drove them when the cars were sanctioned by
NASCAR.
Theuspits.com has a quick synopsis of the car on their website.
The Aero88 mod doesn't include the winged cars..the mod is a representation
of the 1988 season when most of the major manufacturers fielded an entry in
NASCAR and used factory bodies... long before anyone ever dreamt of a
"common body template".
Just for comparision, in 1982 there were 18 NASCAR sanction body styles
competing. (Ford, Chevy, Buick, Oldsmoblile and Pontiac and all their
accompaning model badges)
Hope this help,
Timmy

Don't confuse the old Winged cars from Dodge and Plymouth with the cars
of 1988.  In '88 the Aerodynamics really came into play for the whole car.
Up til then, the Winston Cup cars at least resembled real world cars.
Since '88, the wind tunnels have crafted and shaped the bodies til any
resemblance to real cars is gone.
True the Daytona and Superbirds(the cars with pointed noses and rear
trunklid wings) and the Torinos were called AeroWarriors, but the true
aerodynamic era of Nascar came much later.

Ah I thought the they raced the whole NASCAR-season.

I think when visiting the Pits-Forum the picture on the top-left made me
think that it is a screenshot from the AeroWar 88-mod.

Yeah great info. Thank you very much!

Yes, it was the picture on the top-left of the Pits forum that confused me.

Thank you Dave!

Superbirds competed in all races in the 1970 season (and Daytonas in '69)
where the wings weren't needed (i.e, short tracks).
