Newbie: Logitech Wheel

Well I picked up GPL and a Logitech non force feedback wheel at my local
Office Depot for like 45 bucks for both......quickly I realized I "needed",
I mean wanted the force feedback.....so I got the Logitech Formula Force GP
(red *** grips).  i've been using the wheel for like a week now and
noticed that if I lightly pull on the wheel directly towards me, there is
like 1/8" give back and forth on the wheel...of course I don't notice this
when driving, but I'm just curious if anyone else's is like this or if I got
one which isn't put together properly.
Thanks,
Curt

Although I don't own the red wheel - I have the yellow NonFF wheel - it has
been my experience that all wheels have play.  This is through two
thrustmasters, a T-2 and now the Logitech Yellow.

Yes, mine does this too as well as a slight left/right play.

It's not too bad though.  Maybe I'll wait for a few months and send it in
for warranty (if they'll fix it) or get creative with some bushings.  I can
see that it's the "middle" gear that's moving around (causing l/r play).

If it is left/right play while not turning wheel I don't know
fix. But if it is clockwise/anticlockwise play while turning
wheel, I think you should't have that. I had it on my LWFF
when I bought it and fix it by tightening the knob (or
something ) on a wheel axle.

says...
Take off the wheel and put a narrow strip of tape down either side of the
spindle.  Then reassemble the wheel.  Ta-da! No more play...
