  I tried to follow a normal email link from RaceSimCentral's forum's and
got the following message.

You have tried to access a page that you are not authorized to display and
were stopped by the SAS Proxy. First check if the URL you entered was
actually the exact one you intended to use. If the URL is correct and this
error reoccurs, then please call Customer Care. Give them the URL that you
are not authorized to access as well as the page sequence you followed to
get to this point. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.

  now i can't get anyhere.  Even the comcast or msn homepages...the same
message keeps popping up.

Did a virus sneak in before I had my firewall reconfigured?

Well, in this part of the world, "SAS" stands for "Special Air Service" and
they are an elite branch of the army, serving on both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Perhaps there are some regular army guys standing in as proxies for the real
ones?

  Yup I knew about them...my son plays those first person Combat
shooters...:)

   A *** redirect more likely..

   Just found the answer....something hijacked my internet connections
settings and provided a proxy address.  A nerd site had the fix.  I had to
changed the IE6 lan settings...The proxy address was entered in somehow and
kept sending me to a single page.  Just now, Friday night almost 9pm
Pacific Coast Daylight time....I got it unchecked and the net is back.  Now
I can re-install my race sims\mods on my sole remaining hardrive...
