segment. Is the car of tomorrow a Toyota? I guess even Nascar see's the
writing on the wall for the big 3 (or once big)

no, two separate issues. The car of tomorrow is a Nascar project that
is nearing completion. Teams will all run cars that have the same body and
chassis that fit a new set of regulations designed to increase the safety
of the driver and equalize the aero competition between brands.
The Toyota item is the completion of nearly 10 years of repositioning
by Toyota, which is now the third largest builder of cars in America, They
are entering the Camry to compete against the cars of Ford, Chevy and
Dodge. But they too will be forced to migrate to the Car of Tomorrow in
the next few years. They have been supplying Nascar truck engines for the
last 2 or 3 years and just this past month have invaded the turf of
Dodge/Mopar by building a race winning dirt track motor.

If this is the same "car of tomorrow" project I've seen them talk
about in the past, Nascar is planning to "dirty up" the aerodynamics
of the cars, hopefully putting the racing back in the drivers hands
instead of the fabricators. Most of the drivers refer to the new car
as "the brick".
