I was very close not to celebrate this new year at all, mainly because of
the hysteria around it. It's only a way of counting, and it only says 2000
if you use the 10th base...
I do see the advantages for human kind to start a new year, new decade, new
century, new millenium. It's as if we think we get a new chance to do it
right... The memorial TV-programs of the past year, decade, etc, also
reminds us of all the good things that happened, which I guess increase our
optimistic view of the future - Perhaps we're not that bad after all :o).
This doesn't explain why the stock market is falling though, so maybe I'm
wrong... again...
