Last night Ken Hower and I showed up for the ***-Racing "*** Cup"
race at Michigan. There were only a handful of drivers to enter
practice, eleven I think, and after RHUGGINS posted an ACE setup lap of
well over 188 mph., there were even fewer as suspicious drivers dropped
out like flies.
Ken, myself, and a couple of others stayed, qualified and raced the guy
anyway. Folks, Michigan is not my best track and I have little
experience with the ACE setup, but I qualified second and run a clean
race (50 lapper), turning laps from 184.5 to 185.7 with virtually no
exceptions. By lap 45 or so, Ken and I were the only ones remaining as
the others dropped out as well and on lap 48 I pulled into the pits as a
way of protest, and exited the race. At that point Huggins had around a
24-25 second lead on me and I was well ahead of Ken, who is certainly no
slouch at Michigan, so I must assume I ran a pretty good pace.
The main reason I stayed was to see for myself what others have
complained about and to give Papy/Big Brother a few laps of data to
review, if indeed they're keeping track. Is he cheating? Is he testing
for Papy? I have no idea, but if not, there is definitely a
hardware/software/connectivity issue at hand that Papyrus MUST resolve.
Either that, or I'm a hell of a lot slower than I thought.
I can except the fact that some drivers can outrun me almost everywhere
I race. In fact, struggling to catch a faster driver that I trust, is a
rewarding challenge that I welcome and enjoy. But if any of you can
tell me how to click off legitimate 188-189 laps at MIS with the Ace
setup, clue me in. If not, add me to the growing list of drivers who
refuse to race Huggins until the issue is explained/resolved.
Flame away, I like it
