Has anyone played this yet and whats it like??

Graphic are very nice, smooth and detailed. 3Dfx is a must though.

Sound is ok, the car sounds are all the same and not very loud, even
with the volume turned up? Background sounds are ok, a choice of music
tracks to choose from?

Gameplay is ok, only a couple of cars and tracks are available at
first, you have to progress through a championship to unlock more cars
and tracks. (cheats are available if you are no good or just too lazy
to go through this process?) You can race against yourself via a
"ghost" mode, or practice on your own, or have single races, and three
levels of difficulty are available.

Multiplay is a blast, via modem ipx or internet, fast pc's and modems
are required for the max benefit, (a new patch has just been released
which allows up to 12 players via ipx or the internet!)

Car handling is ok, power slides are essential, but real world physics
are not implemented really? you just hit the accelerator until you pass
the finish line and only brake if hitting another object is imminent
(not very realistic really?)

There are no set-up options at all, you simply choose different cars
which have slightly different characteristics, each car feels pretty
much the same, just a bit faster as you progress thru the game? There
are no damage options either, hit something at max speed and all you
lose is a bit of time?

Pretty much everything in the game is adjustable, from the no' of laps,
to your *team* and *driver* name, to the colour of the cars, sound
level, graphics options on or off, and configuring control devices,
etc, etc.

Overall, great multiplay arcade game, good one player arcade game, poor
sim whether one player or multiplayer.
