Need help, read second of the two messages

by Wosc » Fri, 12 Mar 1999 04:00:00

All of a sudden, all of my posts have been sending out 2 posts.  One with my
message and one with some happy99.exe file attached to it.  It just started
happening today and I didn't put any settings to make it do it or anything.
Anyone have an idea on how to make it stop or what it is doing?  Oh yeah, I
opened the file, all it is is a graphic with a bunch of fireworks going off,
no sound, like a Java script, no fatal signs yet, it may be off my computer
from some file I got in an email or something, who knows.

Hi Jesse,

A while back I got this warning from a friend, in short, don't run that happy99.exe.
if you did, go to:
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Heights/3652/SKA.HTM
they have a method for removing it, and information on what it does.
p.s. Never run attachments no matter how pretty/funny they tell you they look/are.

----------------------
Look out for an email called "happy 99". It may come from a friend but
don't be fooled. DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT THAT COMES WITH THIS EMAIL.

Delete the email, and do a file search for "happy99.exe" and delete that
as well.

This virus's effect is unknown, but once opened it modifies your winsock
cfg files and re-spawns itself to anyone you have emailed since recieving
it, using your address and sending itself as an attachment again.

Let's not find out how bad it is.

again: DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT "happy99".

Also look at:

for some antivirus info, or contact your antivirus manufacturer (if you have any)
for up to date releases.
