I recently screwed up and had to re-install Nascar2. Now it won't start up
without the cd. I did a full install. Any ideas on starting up without the
cd? Where did I go wrong?

Thanks

Yeah, I've got one idea. Go to your notepad program in windows, the open up
the n2.bat file and the line that has your drive letter in it, highlight the
line and delete it. Save the file and open the n2rend.bat file and do the
same proccess. Hopefully this will solve your problem.

When you reinstalled did you delete the old n2 directory?
if not do that and then try

I deleted all the rendition bat files to save space.
Try getting rid of a file called smkply or something like that.
This is the file that starts the movie intro from the CD.
It's mentioned in the docs.

Assuming you're running it thru DOS, there may be another way. Once I'm
at DOS, and I've launched the game, immediately it DOS says there's a
problem and "Abort Retry Fail?".  Hit "F" and DOS will ignore the lack
of CD and start the game. (That is IF you've done a full install.)  Sure
beats all the file hunting, changing, etc. Hope this helps.
