question is how do I minimize right rear tire wear?
How long should my tires last? I thought at taladega I should be able to
get away with a 2 tire stop, especially at 50% race length.

First of all you can start by dropping the 100% shock setting to 85-95% You
can also drop your tire pressure to about 55 instead of 60. The main thing
is to keep your tire temp below 220 and you really want it at about 210 to
ensure good wear. The higher the pressure the more the outsides of the tire
are going to wear out and the higher the shock setting the hotter the tire is
going to get as well. I would try lowering the shock first because it won't
affect your speed hardly any if you have a good setup and the right line.
Hope this helps.

To continue with this idea, does anyone have any recommendations on
how to set the car up so that your tires will last as long as your
fuel? It seems like I have to stop between 5 and 10 laps before my
fuel would run out. Is that normal? Thanks!

High air pressure will wear the middle of the tire most. Lower air pressure
will wear the inside and outside of tire most. If you're having a problem with
wearing the inside more than the outside or outside more than the inside, then
you're looking at a camber adjustement...
Drive as smooth as a baby's butt. 10 to one you're pitching your tail a bit
in the dogleg. If you hear your tires coming out of the dogleg, you're
frying your rr. Make smoothie-smoothie and use all the track up through
there.
I can go 50 or so laps on a set of Hoosiers. That's one 2 tire stop
(outsides) in a 94 lap hunt. It's all about letting the car go where it
wants and if you're driving right, that's the good fast line. That's why I
hate when people go down in the warm up lane and bugaloo all over the
backstretch. Try to stay in their draft (a m***imperative) pinch up
the car and you fry it up like an omelette.
