EA has announced Road Rash for the PC to be released this fall.

Road Rash was a fantastic game on the 3DO and Playstation, but the big
news is that the PC version will support up to 8 players in
multiplayer racing. See "http://www.racesimcentral.net/; for more
details.

Another interesting tidbit was that EA is working with Papyrus on this
game ("Electronic Arts developed the Windows 95 version of Road Rash
in conjunction with software developer, Papyrus Design Group"). How
deep is Papyrus' involvement? Is it just the multi-user network code,
or is Papyrus also working on the simulation and graphics engine? If
Papyrus is adding some of their simulation magic to this game it cold
be a lot more than the previous versions (which were already great
games).

And does anyone know if there will be new tracks?

Please dont make another "Road Rash" Motorcycle Game!!!! Instead make a
real GP racing game. Have real riders, real 500cc, 250cc, and 125cc
classes, real modifications and pit mods you can do to a bike, and real
sponsors! Only then will I ever buy a Motorcycle Game!

That's very good to hear, that means we get your great graphics code,
device support, etc. Have you made the bike driving more of a
simulation, or do you still consider it an arcade racer? Are there any
new tracks or other gameplay enchancments? (Not that there has to be -
I will buy it for the network play alone.)

Ummm.....Road Rash as "more of a simulation"??? I suppose all the REAL
motorcycle racers carry chains and lead pipes and smack each other on the
head as they rip across the landscape. Road Rash *IS* an arcade game, and
multiplayer head-smackin' sounds great! If they want to make it into a
sim they should definitely change the name to something else...and I would
probably not be off topic even talking about here!

It's a port. The game is still Road Rash.

That's fine - it's one of the best video games ever made, for any
genre or system, so I can see the logic in a straight PC port. Just
the multi-player network play alone is worth it.

Something I really must ask.  Porting somebody else's shoot-em-up arcade
racer sounds a bit out of character for Papyrus, having built all your own
sims from the ground up.  Is this Sierra putting your (ahem, their)
resource to work, or something you were already doing?

Just curious!

All the best

We were about 6 months in to the port when Sierra acquired us. Do you
really think Sierra would WANT to port a game for its #1 competitor?

Eldred, you need to have another cup of coffee this morning. No, all that
work was not wasted, we are still working on the port of Road Rash. The
question was whether Sierra was behind our accepting the contract. My
answer was to say that no, we started work on Road Rash 6 months before
the Sierra acquisition.
