Erm, just a casual observation.

I have a 4meg 486sx-33Hz -
I've just bought IRC's upgrade packs (yes I bought something!) -
the extra tracks.
On the Elkart Lake description it says that 8Meg is required
to play the track.
So, obviously it's the first track I tried to load up, just
to see what happened.
The damn thing actually worked?!?!?!? There doesn't appear
to be any problem at all, I've even raced with maximum
oponents and it STILL works. This isn't your average
posting, I know - but I'm just perplexed as to why it
says 8meg is needed when my 4meg is sufficient - it very
nearly put me off buying it!!

Consider yourself fortunate... and don't jinx yourself... just accept it! :)

You're one of the lucky ones. Sometimes it doesn't work. It has to do with
how much of your 640K low mem you have left, as well as CPU speed (I think).
Papyrus was smart to just say "requires 8 Meg" rather than having to deal with
all of the people who have 4 meg machines that it doesn't work on.
