I have heard a couple of people comment that they thought this program everyone
is talking about is really a virus that will in time wipe the hard drive. Has anyone
tested it with antiviral software?

I just tested it with a viruscan and it did not detect any virus.  I
haven't been able to get THEFAST to work though.

Maybe that's the case, but it definitely does increase the frame rate
slightly...  the big green mountain in the background at Sears Point
would disappear on me before (since I have all my graphics settings on
AUTO), but with thefast the mountain doesn't disappear.  It's still
not enough to make the game enjoyable in SVGA mode IMHO, even on my
P-90 - for serious racing I think I'll continue to stick with VGA mode.

I finally found THEFAST, got it to run and the next day after I had shut
down and restarted I had a virus. It was called Welcomb, can't recall but
I think it attacked .com files. It made my PC not able to run in 32 bit
mode. Microsoft Virus Scan for Windows (MWAV) did not find it, Norton did.

I see no improvement on my 486 dx2 66mhz machine, using the fast. I
have had it for about a week now . No HD crashes (Hope to keep it that
way..)

Scott:
I check everything I get off the net, and it was okay.  Doesn't seem to do much good, but doesn't
do any harm either...
