Opinions on Rendition vs. Virge/VX?

Seems like there are many 4 meg cards with these chips for around $200.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of these cards?

Regards and thanks

Virge sucks (no question about that).

Rendition almost sucks, but only compared to Voodoo.  It's saving grace is
that ICR2 and Nascar Racing are written for it, so it's hovering just above
the sucks line.

Voodoo is king of performance, but ICR2 and Nascar Racing aren't written for
it, so it sucks in that regard - again, just above the sucks line.

The "suck factor" is a sliding scale of quality used by American computer
users everywhere, and is based on a somewhat skewed mix of personal
experience, rumor processing skills, and general satisfaction (or
dissatisfaction) with past software/hardware from the given manufacturer.  Ice
lollies?

Follow the comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.video newsgroup.  Anyone that bought the
Virge is regretting it now because few (if any) new games are being written
for the card and it's performance is quite slow.  Don't ask for numbers
because  I'm not rich enough to buy every card on the market and do a
side-by-side comparison for you.

Basically, picking a 3D card is a two step process.

1) See what card your favorite games are being ported too.

2) Buy that card.

The Voodoo has better performance numbers under DOS and lets you keep your old
VGA card.  It's just plain a better 3D implementation.  The only problem with
it (for me) is that ICR2 doesn't run on it, NCR2 won't run on it, and Quake
doesn't run on it.  Descent is supposed to run on it, but that might be a moot
point because the Win95 (Direct3D) version will be out soon and it won't
matter what card you have in your system.

So, I got (for now) the Intergraph Reactor because of ICR2 and NCR2.  Maybe at
the beginning of the year, I'll get a Voodoo to go with it for playing
Direct3D games under Win95, or maybe something better will be out.

Are you happy now?  Have you been able to make an informed descision based on
my opinionated facts?  Didn't think so.

   :))))
I strongly disagree. On the word 'American'. EleeTe D00dz, FidoNet and
the Internet made it so nowadays about half the Russian computer
people use only two words to evaluate hardware/software: 'rulez' and
'sux'.  And non-nerds are, you guessed it - 'lamerz' :) I remember
reading a post where a guy proposed to redefine the cuaa interface to
replace in Windows forms the 'OK' and 'Cancel' buttons with 'Rulez!'
and 'Must Die!'.

Sorry for the offtopic but I couldn't help it.
