New T.I.R patch on the way

by murk » Thu, 19 Dec 2002 01:24:12

This is posted on the Highgear forum by Krisby:

I have been given a beta patch from Empire, so I will test it tonight
and hopefully it has cured some of the problems the 1st patch caused.

Readme as follows:

==================
Changes - 16/12/02
==================

- The earlier version of this patch caused the force feedback to act
with less force - this has been fixed.
- Engine sound effects problem fixed. Occasionally, the pitch of the
sound effect wouldn't match the rpm.
- ff_scale command line parameter now allows you to enter minus
numbers - letting you flip the force direction.

Variable Setup Changes:

- Addition of config variable "physics_suspension_mod1" - allows user
to turn on suspension position improvement.
- Addition of config variable "physics_suspension_mod2" - allows user
to turn on suspension damping improvement.
- Addition of config variable "car_engine_braking_force" - allows user
to increase / decrease engine braking.
- Addition of config variable "car_blip_on_up_change" - allows user to
make engine blip throttle on up changes.
- Addition of config variable "car_blip_on_down_change" - allows user
to make engine blip throttle on down changes.

eg. (suggested):

set physics_suspension_mod1 1
set physics_suspension_mod2 1
set car_engine_braking_force 5.0
set car_blip_on_up_change 1
set car_blip_on_down_change 1

default settings are:

set physics_suspension_mod1 0
set physics_suspension_mod2 0
set car_engine_braking_force 0.0
set car_blip_on_up_change 0
set car_blip_on_down_change 0

=========================================
Changes made in previous patch (14/11/02)
=========================================

- Fixed a problem where changing the car set up caused the replay not
to work.
- Fixed a few problems with the controllers in two player mode.
- Fixed the Force Feedback framerate problem for Microsoft Sidewinder
Steering Wheel.
- The warning message no longer appears if running DirectX 8.2.
- Addition of config variable "car_additional_braking_force" - allows
user to vary addition braking.

Have they released a slighly less buggy version of the demo yet?  The
initial demo was a slideshow for many people including myself..
