There's been outstanding response to the previous announcement, and there is
still plenty of time to sign-up for N.A.S.S.C.A.R., brought to you by the
directors of the ever popular IndyCar Racing Series! The practice race is
still open until Sunday night, January 15th, 9:00pm ET. The first race info
will be sent out January 30th. Here is the announcement previously posted.

What is NASSCAR? It's the National Association for Simulated Stock Car Auto
Racing, using of course the Nascar Racing simulation from Papyrus. NASSCAR
will feature 2 divisions: Bush Grand National (BGN) and Winsten Cup (WC).
Both divisions will be similar in many ways, with the number of competitors
and race lengths being the main difference. Race opponent strengths will be
very similar also. For this reason I urge all drivers to consider more your
equipments' ability to run a high number of competitors, rather than your
driving skills when choosing which division to join. I would much rather see
our BGN division a true league of 'up and coming racers', rather than one hot
shoe winning every race.
A word of warning.....NASSCAR races will be tough, in both divisions. A
highly modified drivers.txt file along with stiff opponent strengths will
make for some very hot competition. Some weeks you may or may not keep pace
with the leaders. Since the series derives it's results from your finish
position, we can't have everyone winning every race. Many times drafting,
pit strategy, and other factors will play into your hand though.
The first season of NASSCAR will be a 9 race schedule. With the sim
still having some AI problems, and the add-on tracks just beyond reach,
we're keeping the race count to a minimum. And some tracks may have to
be run with yellows off to avoid the problems.
There is a complete car set, along with the complete rules available for
download at
ftp://ftp.webcom.com/pub/sabata/www/files
... or if you have a Web browser, you can go directly to NASSCAR headquarters,
the NASSCAR Home Page at
http://www.racesimcentral.net/~sabata/nasscar/nasscar.html
... where you can read the rules, check the settings for the test race,
and also download the necessary files. The car set is not mandatory
to run the series, but the official DRIVERS2.TXT file is. No replays will be
required, just a results file sent attached to email. See the rules for
complete details.

register via the online registration form.
See ya at the track!
