Looks like ATI will be king for an entire product cycle.  Heck, even the
successor to the 9700 Pro will probably beat the nv30 to market now since
the 9700 pro successor is due in Jan 2003.

Nvidia takes one in the groin..... HAHAHAHAHAH, about time!

It's so nice to see Nvidia finally get humbled. Maybe now we can get some
real competition going in the market and hopefully stop all these developers
from writing games to specific graphics cards, I doubt it though...

They aren't humbled, they just start another marketing campaign!

Gotta disagree with ya on this one. In 6 years ive owned 6 vid cards. 3 from
3Dfx, and 3 from Nvidia. All have performed perfectly, and have never needed
RMAing. (vid drivers are not being considered in this). I would never
belittle either company for their products.
Competition is wherever it rears its hungry head. 3Dfx dominated for a
while, the Nvidia wave washed them out. Now ATI will rule until the next
tide rolls in.
As far as software/hardware discrimination goes, that pattern can be seen
all over the retail market world. Make a good product, and the aftermarket
will hunt you down like a wounded bison.
But i also agree with you too. Nice to see the king of the hill get a boot
in the seat of the pants once in a while. The "burger wars" of vid products
is good. Maybe we will see a 99 cent menu someday ;>)
