SGCT Flip...

Anyone flipped in SCGT yet.  I was racing at Road Atlanta and had a Panoz
spin in front of me.  I couldn't  react in time and drove my Panoz up onto
the hood of the other Panoz, and up and over went my car.

I have never really cared if the cars flip or not, because I don't race the
cars to flip them.  I was impressed by the physics of the flip.  It wasn't
overexagerated.  It just flipped over like a real car would.  Well done ISI.

I had to save the replay.

Dean.

Yes I did a few barrel rolls in the Raptor thru the esses at Road Atlanta.
I was fighting to stay on the line while staying flat on the gas.  The
slide was awesome, but the wall really put the car in the air.  I have a
few pics if anyone wants em.

And then you get that "auto-righting" mechanism...:)  But yeah, I flipped my
Porsche this morning and it was pretty cool.

Well,  I was looking at world upside down and then exited to see replay.  I
did not know it would have righted itself.

I drove a BMW the wrong direction on the Lime Rock straight and went head on into the Mustang see what would happen. Both cars did
barrel rolls in the air as a Porsche drove underneath. We landed right side up and I could still drive away very slow in first gear.
It should have destroyed my car and require buying a new one or at least repair cost of the same price. Maybe all crash damage,
spare parts, travel cost, fuel, and entry fee are paid by the sponsors. They should also have fees or fines for when you get a
penalty.

Yeah, that would of have been nice.  :)  Even further as you won more and
more you'd get more sponsorship money, etc. ;)  I know at the rate I'm
winning (max settings, medium race length, and ALWAYS starting from the back
of the grid in 16th) with my GT3 Porsche (wish I'd kept the GTQ car..oh
well) in both GT3 and GT2 I'd have all the top sponsors. ;)

You can flip if you go off the course sideways at a good speed. This is
something TOCA 2 can't do.

A good place to try a flip is at Road Atlanta.  After the esses and the left
hander, YOu go straight over some rises and build up a lot of speed before
having to brake for the two right handers.  Just dont lift the throttle and
don't turn for the first one  :o)  You should get pretty much upsidown after you

airlifted back on to it.  The little indicator says "Crash recovery'.

My first flip I had on accident (<g>) was at Lime Rock.  Going into turn 4 I
think it is, the uphill flatout right hander, there was a huge pileup, cars
spinning everywhere.  I tried to go through there with just a small lift and
work my way to the bottom but I ass-ended a Porsche 911 and got the nose
pointed in the air.  Then I slammed head-on into the wall while airborne and
rolled over one time back onto my wheels.

OK, I heard you can flip by sliding sideways through the grass (I've never seen
that implemented into a sim before!) but I haven't been able to do it yet (I
would think that sideways at 240 mph through the gravel at Hockenheim would do
it, but it won't so far!) so I gotta ask:  what car, what track, where at on
the track have you guys rolled from sliding through grass?

They should have taken you down the nick, locked you up and thrown away
the key. Gee, sims these days just don't have the realism.

"These days"??? As opposed to the 1980's, when Pitstop 2 was all the rage?
(anyone remember that game? I loved how you had to move your own guys for your
pit stop - very fun)

Now there was a game. Good old Epyx really had it right (whatever
happened to them, anyways??) It had a split screen for two-player
action and liquid-smooth framerates on a lowly 1 MHz machine (C-64).

To relate it to today: If i recall correctly, both Watkins Glen and
Sebring were available to race in Pitstop 2.

As opposed to... errr... those days.

First 'driving' game I played was on a Comodore PET and I had to write
the *** myself. (actually, the first driving 'game' I played was on
some kind of HP desktop calculator, the ones that read the cute little
magnetic strips; can't remember what it was called but you basically fed
it numbers and it reported back your position in... numbers. Ahhh,
nostalgia)

I actually had a "sim" for my C64 - it was called "Top fuel Dragster", I think,
and it made all these physics modelling claims that now seem ludicrous due to
the machines lack of power or memory. (Or, perhaps, code is just not as tight
as it once was) It was really fun - basicaly all about shifting times, but it
had a great two-player split screen mode, and cool little touches like leaving
your engine block on the road behind you if you overreved and blew it. Good
stuff, I must've spent hours on end trying to break the best times.
