my system is messed up

That damn kerman post has screwed up my system.  I can only get this
email window to run full screen or on the taskbar.  Can't shrink it down to
the smaller window.  My virus checker doesn't show anything, but the
internet is acting flaky.  What did the message do to my system besides open
up a dozen browser windows?  dangNabbit!

When I see a binary in a non -binary newsgroups, posted by someone
with a name of Mongrel Mind who has never posted here before  I'll be
damned if I am going to open it.

I have no idea why people do these kinds of things, I do know that as
long as there are a million suckers out there to trick they will keep
doing it........

Dude, if you're just paging through the messages, you wouldn't know who wrote
it, what was in it, or what(if any) attachments were in in until you clicked on
'next message'...
No need to call someone a 'sucker' over it...geez.

If you're using Outlook Express it is quite simple to stop the active
content of
email & news messages.

right click on internet explorer.
Properties->security.
Select the Zone for "unsecure Sites"
modify this zone to highest security, no active stuff allowed. (disable all
active
elements like java, javascript, vbscript, activex ....

then go to outlookexpress, extras->options->Security and select the
"unsecure
zone" for outlook express.

i can provide an email which checks your oe-security status.

Well, using a Micro$shite product (OE) I never have problems.
I read with a finger on the 'down' arrow, and the closest I
get is to think "look, this message has got an attachment
- does some muppet *really* think I'm going to open it?"

Even if I do click on the paper clip icon, I'll get a filename
and when it has two extensions I'll make my own mind up before
clicking on the filename itself... ;-)

This paticular one took off the moment I clicked on the subject line.  A
few dozen email windows later, and several dozen error messages it was
ctrl-alt-delete time.  And when I rebooted, everything was scrambled.  Even
my Zone Alarm settings got changed.  I had to re-enable a lot of
connections.

Maybe, but you obviously have some computer knowledge, and have changed some
settings.  Doesn't the default install leave everything open?
