GP2... wheelspin

by hamme.. » Sat, 18 Sep 1999 04:00:00

I am a long time GP2 racer, like about 6 billion
laps.  I have been away from it for a long time
(year'ish) and installed it the other day.

In my past GP2 life, I always used that driver
aid where it would not allow the rear wheels to
spin out in lower gears, you know the one??

Well, now I want to drive with zero aids.
However, for the life of me, I can't keep from
spinning the rears in even 3rd gear.  I've been
racing GPL for sometime over last year and I'm
not a throttle masher... but no matter what I do
I can't keep this thing from spinning out of the
1st, 2nd, and even some 3rd gear corners... do I
need a labotomy??

How are others handling this?  I have been
running at Spa with a 1st gear ratio of 31 (!!!!)
and a rear wing of 8 (!!!) (I used to race with a
rear wing of 5!)... no matter what I do I'm
spinning out even with very gentle throttle-on.

Any hints guys??  I do notice that when you get
it right, the lap times are *significantly*
faster without the wheelspin aid on... but jeez,
I'm having more trouble completing a lap at Spa
than I do in even GPL.  HELP!!  Wheelspin tips??

Thanks GP2 jockeys :)

Hello Hammer,

Set your "sensitivity" option in joystick configuration.  You want to
slow down the response of the gas pedal.  I don't remember exactly what
the selection is called, but there is a slider in % for each axis.

Hope that helps,
Jason.

One more thing, use "controller driven calibration".  Should be a check
box in the joystick config screen or the custom config screen.

Jason.

I know this sounds kinda dumb, but maybe you're just pushing too hard.
Sometimes in GP2 you just have to accept your own human limitations and slow
down a bit.  Try to not make the tires squeal in the places where you spin
off too much.
