I have obtained The Need for Speed III, and I have to say, all things
considered...
- This Is The Best Racing Game I Have Ever Owned For Any System -
Sure, other games will offer true-to-life physics (okay, more true-to-life;
I don't want to insult EA's brilliant work), and some will offer
real-world-drivers, and some will have better graphics - wait, no they will
NOT...but for me, a racing game is about RACING. Nothing more, nothing
less. Granted, very accurate physics will contribute a lot to the
experience (I am purchasing GPL because of that, and the era), and knowing
exactly who it is you're driving against will give you a sense of being
there, but if it isn't FUN, then it's not for me. Note: I said "not for
ME," meaning I do not want to start a pro-/anti-NFS thread, only to submit
my opinion about a driving game to a newsgroup that is about submitting
opinions about driving games (or simulators, or emulators, or computer
programs, etc.). This is the same reason why Chuck Yeager's Air Combat and
the original NFS were so popular - they were FUN to play.
I just want to say one more thing. When I come home from work, sit down in
front of my NASCAR Pro and check my email, all the while just itching to
grip that wheel and take a Ferrari at full song around an
amazingly-realistic course at breakneck speeds, I would like to enjoy myself
doing it. Again, I am purchasing GPL, and may post back in a week with the
same first and third lines as in this post, but for now, this is the one!!!
