10035 Error Detected the Bane of my Existence!

by bif198 » Thu, 06 Jun 2002 22:08:49

HELP!  I have been getting this hated message in Nascar 4 and Nascar 2k2
and I am wondering what can I do to fix it?  Here are some details.

Computer:
AMD Duron 1.1Ghz
256MB RAM
8GB HD (1.6GB Free)
Windows 98 SE
HSP PCI Modem (latest Drivers)

Modem Settings:
Software Compression
TCP/IP Only
I use an AT command to tell the modem to only use 10% CPU to reduce
Warp.

ISP:
Logging into a Major University Dial Up Network

Cable modem and DSL are out for now.

The Problem has started since my race league switched the Race Server to
a new ISP in the same county as me.  I have never had any Warp issues
racing N3.  I have done a Tracert and it is taking over 20 hops to get
to the server.  I do not get disconnected from the race server but All
the other cars disappear and I stop getting scored.

I have followed the modem tweaks found at 3Dspotlight.com.

Anyone found a fix for this Scorge!  Damn you Error 10035!  Damn YoU!

Thanks in advance,
Bif1988

For the most part I think that the error is when you lose "touch" with the
server for what ever reason. Its just how the game lets you know. I know so
people that have this problem as well and have tried just about everything
under the sun to fix it, and it sounds like you have too. :(  Keep in mind
as the games progress there is more data being transmitted. I never had any
problems in N3 or N4 until the first patch for N4. Once the patch for N4
came out I started having the 10035 as well. Once I switched to cable it all
went away. Really makes me wonder if we are reaching the limit of what 56k
can handle without drop outs. Especially when you have so many hops to a
server.

It's a common problems with modems and N4/2002, that afaik, has no fix
other than a broadband conn.  I had it myself until I went to DSL.

10035 Error Detected the Bane of my Existence!

I have been trying to solve this problem for quite some time now. I have
Tweaked the Core.ini, switched ISP's, Made sure all SPY-Ware was removed
from my system, Shut-down all non-critical apps running on my system before
entering a race, Tweaked in-game settings to try to free up system
resources, I have even set my modem up to connect at a max speed of
38Kbs/Sec. And I am still getting the 10035 error sporatically. Last night
running an 80 Lap event at Pocono, I recieved the error twice.

My system specs are as follows:

AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz
512MB DDR Ram
15Gig HD w/ 8+ Gig free
Win ME
USROBO PCI 56K *** Modem
SB Live 5.1 Sound Card

I have all of the updated drivers for my system.

Modem Settings:

Software Compression
Error Correction
TCP'IP Protocol
INIT. String included in the *** Modem Software for Optimized ***
Packet Transfer.
While *** I have the Modem connect at 28K I am currently searching for a
INIT. String to connect at 26K to see if that makes it better or worse.

So far in everything that I have tried to cure this, I have had zero luck. I
still get the 10035 error. It isn't even on a consistent basis. Sometimes I
can get it after completing only a couple laps; while other times I can run
almost a full race before it happens. When it does happen, I pull to the
infield and sit until the connection smoothes out and the cars re-appear on
the F2 - Split time Screen, and the connection meters are all back in the
Green/Non-existant. (CTRL+C while in game to bring up the Connection Meter).
It would be nice to be able to get someone from Papy to give some tips on
this, and what we could do to actually try to remedy it. I have even sent
Papy an Email quite awhile back and I never recieved any reply from them. I
will keep trying to get my connection improved enough to eliminate this
error, but I don't hold much hope short of Broadband at this point. Which
BTW is not availible in my area and from my research, won't be for at least
the next two years.

Thanks for the information.  Sounds like you headed down the track I was on and
that there is not much I can do about this issue.  Although I may try a
different ISP since I noticed that my University Network took over 20 hops to
get to our server but att.net dial up only took 14.  But I had found that before
the att.net really stunk for racing online and use to cause all kinds of warp
issues.

Thanks all.

10035 Error Detected the Bane of my Existence!

Well I may be on to something in getting rid of the 10035 error and
Disconnects.

Yesterday afternoon I went thru a series of things before logging onto
sierra to race and I did not have a single error, nor a Disco. And I raced
for over 3 hours. Usually I had at least one every 1/2 hour or so. Here is
what I did:

1. Using Ad-Ware I made sure all Spy-ware was off of my System and Registry.
(Did Deep Scans).
2. Shut down ALL non-critical Windows Aps. (Leaving only Systray and
Explorer)
3. In the Modem's settings, Set "Max Speed" to 38400.
4. In the Modem's Advanced Settings, Uncheck "Data Compression".
5. Connect to the Internet and double checked that my connection was less
than 38.
6. Connect to Sierra. It takes a little extra time for the chat and Server
list to come up but once they did I could enter my League's server and race
all I wanted to without a single error etc.

Keep in mind that you will have to dis-connect and set your modem settings
back to normal when you are done racing in order to keep your Modem
optimized for Web surfing etc. If this works you can actually create another
Modem from the existing Modem within the Device Manager for the "Racing"
settings and use your original one as your Web-browsing connection. I have
USR 56K PCI#1 and USR 56K PCI#2 listed as Modems. They are actually the same
modem just with the different settings.

Results may vary but I hope this helps you.
