'Dull' Cars in NR2003

I just loaded up NR03 and the cars look 'dull'.  Not shiney like in NR02.  Is
it something in my settinegs?  Or could it be that I have dloaded Hi-/res cars
for 02 and not yet for 03?  Suggetstions appreciated...

Part 2...the info I forgot in post #1...AMD 850..GF2 with 64meg...512
ram...running 1024/768.  NR02 seems to work fine, but the car quality is
better.  Looking for suggetstions as to what to try adjusting...

Thanks

For me setting the graphics to d3d looks a lot better than opengl in N2003,
used to be the other way around in N2002, maybee same for you?

It sounds like one of the filtering options is not set the same.  Are you
running D3D or OGL? I always thought OGL looked washed out compared to D3D.
Also have you set the graphics quality in the player.ini file to 100 in
NR2003?  Your system is on the low side for nr2003 so it may have turned
some things down to keep the frame rate up.  On my AMD xp2100 and ATI 9700
pro both games look about the same.

I am beginning to find out how low it is.  The game lets me run awhile then
crash either Blue Screen and lock up or CTD.  Can't run the EA games
either...ain't gettin a new machine so I may be stuck in 02...(REALLY wanted
that truck mod too!!)

It shouldn't crash.  All that a lower spec system will have problems with is
cracking up the graphics or the number of AI cars. Turning thoose down the
game should run any system that is at or above the minimum specs. Granted it
won't be pretty, but it shouldn't crash.

Since you are playing for awhile are you sure its not a heat issue? Either
that or maybe a driver upgrade (video, sound, motherboard) may be in order.

Heat has been suggested...but my other stuff runs fine with out crashing...this
is the only game that crashes it out?  I am gathering suggestions as to what to
adjust and will 'fight it' some more over the week end....
