So can anybody give a brief synopsis of what the great man had to say? I and
others here would surely appreciate it.

Cheers

He talked about his recent accident with an expensive older car where he
t-boned another car, said that he would not have lend himself the car if he
had been the owner, (made Letterman laugh) talked about how it was done in
the old days, where they would race with short sleeved shirt and that he
taught it was "woossy" to wear a helmet, and that Fangio is, to him , the
greatest GP driver of all times.  He said he was faster in Sports Cars than
Fangio but that in F1, where the ultimate talent is required, Fangio was the
best.

In all, a very good, but too short interview with an apparently very
healthy, intelligent and humorous man.

One thing about ole "gap-tooth", you can tell when he's really interested in
his guests (good-looking women and athletes). You could tell the respect he
had for Stirling Moss.

Yes, I thought Dave showed much respect and interest in what Stirling had to
say.  And didn't you love the way Stirling came bounding up on the stage,
the man is still fast! I loved the photograph Dave showed of Stirling in the
Mercedes GP car smiling at Bernard Cahier's camera.

If he was appearing on that Letterman thing, he wouldn't have been given a
chance to say anything "great".......gap-tooth features would've seen to
that!
