Usenet is an environment where every voice should count equally. However,
while some users have found SneakPeek postings useful, others have tried
to shout it down, potentially resulting in the tyranny of a vocal few.
Therefore, we encourage all to post their constructive opinions so that we

SUBJECT: N2 3dfx question
*** Hammer:
I hope this is not duplicate of other questions, I don't intend
to post a laborous question.
I just got a new system, with a 3dfx card (Creative Voodoo 2 8mb)
and it also has a Diamond AGP card in it. I happily loaded up N2
with the 3dfx patch, and it's cool.

*** Dave Mack:
...
(apologies in advance if you've tried this...)
I also have a similar system and also thought originally that the
framerate in N2 with the 3Dfx patch was pretty low. However, I
eventually noticed in the "Graphics" screen in N2 that you can turn up
the FPS to 30. I tried that, and lo and behold...nice and smooth

hehe. Oh man, that's funny, I never checked that. Because GP2
is limited to 25 max, I saw 25 in N2 and my pathetically weak
malformed brain figured that was max (i'm laughing at my idiocy
as I type this). Thanks man. I'll take a look. Thanks fer the

SUBJECT: DirectX 6.0 or not?
*** Rick Gower:
Am I going to see any advantage if I replace my DirectX 5 core software
with the latest DirectX 6 stuff? If there is a noticeable improvement I
will try, unless anyone knows of bugs or problems that I might run into.
I am especially keen to see an improvement in the speed of TOCA.
...
*** meiji:
DX6 offers a speed increase for any D3D title you own (maybe not noticable but
its there) and improves sound support too. The DX6.1 service pack will address
more stuff but to be honest DX6 is painless to install, as bug free as the
last version and not that big so why not upgrade?
*** Pat Dotson:
...
When is MS going to start auto-centering joystick axes which may
be biased toward one side? Every decent game/sim I've ever seen
will compensate if your joystick axes does not center perfectly.
I was hoping DX6 would fix the problem, but apparently, that's

SUBJECT: Re: NHRA: How to use T2 pedals?
*** Mike Dunn:
<Oh, T-R-E-V-O-R, B-E-T-A testers, T-A-N-T-R-U-M, where are you??
Shhh... Notice the silence.
Funny, they seem more quiet, now, than they have for the *months*
leading up to the release of this bargain.bin.destined piece of shit>

*** Greg Cisko:

How do you get your T2 pedals working. And how do you get
a 3dfx card working properly. That other fella was no help.
*** Mike Dunn:
I have a NASCAR pro. While testing the game, i couldnot get the brake pedal
to reconized. Is that still a problem?( I donot have GOLD copy nor a final
release yet). What i did was use the gear shift as my hand brake and gas.
The bottons I used were for the shoots.

SUBJECT: Rendition/3DFX
*** DPHII:
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to run a rendition card along with a
Voodoo card in the same machine and switch between the two for different sims?
"To race is to live, everything else is just waiting." - Rudi Caricciola
*** Don Burnette:
Most definitely. I currently run a Sierra Screamin 3d v1000 rendition card,
and a Canopus Pure 3d 3dfx voodoo1 card. For sims coded to glide or 3dfx,
the Pure 3d kicks in and handles the graphics. The rendition card handles
the 2d and rendition 3d.
...
*** Don Merpaw:
Yes it is. I ran a Intense 3D V1000 rendition card with a Pure3D 3Dfx card
together with no problems. As with all 3Dfx programs they will bypass the
primary 2D card and run off of the 3Dfx card. Any D3D program will normally
run off the rendition card unless it gives you the option to run 3Dfx mode

wheel and pedal unit,up to $500 Aus,can't afford a Hyperstimulator, the old
T2's getting old and tired.
The F1 Sim looks ok but i was hoping someone might have one and let me know

I've been using one for almost 2 years now - all I can say is it has
stood up to the punishment extremely well. The mounting is great, none
of the messing about clamping and unclamping, 2 thumbscrew things and
the wheel's off the desk. I would say however that I do clamp the fron
...
*** Paul Jones:
The Digital Edge F1 Sim is a well built wheel which is extremely steady across
the axes - they must use top quality pots. They do a cheap model which is
nowhere near as good - don't get get confused - they look pretty similar. I
don't like the steering very much - I don't know how they do the springs but
