I have been driving GPL for almost a year now. I have been running
Monza on a Cooper (F3). No matter how "hard" I tried, I cannot go
faster than 1:58. This is a shame. My question is: how could I go
faster in Cooper?

Griffin.

1)  Jump up to GP.
2)  Get a good wheel (ie Logitech Force Feedback) and a good computer
(400Mhz plus good video card).
3)  Practice, practice, practice.

You'll never get good at it if you only practice on one track.  I was gonna
make an analogy but I'm not sure how old you are :)

Okay,

I have a LWFF in order to enjoy THIS GAME. And I have been practising
it for over one year and I still cannot get any faster! I just
invested in a new Pro Pedal USB cause I want to brake better and I do
get consistent 1:59 too!

Yep I can go less than 1:45 in a Ferrai F2 but that does not make any
sense!

BTW, what is this to do with my age?

But, couldn't you get good at that ONE track?  What's a good F3 time, anyway?

Multiple choice hell has Gary Simpson lapping Monza in an F3 Brabham in
1:50.xx - there is one faster person but I suspect a warp lap or something
as he's seven seconds faster. No-one's put up a good Cooper lap.

Kirk's right, Griffin - it's easier to try all the tracks as each teaches
you slightly different skills that you can then apply to all of the others.
You might also like to move up to F2 cars as there's a whole load more
setups and hotlaps available than for the F3 - try http://jc.simracing.dk
for more info.

Kirk's comment:

He is talking about s-e-x. :-) (Or I have a one-track (not Monza) mind). :-)

Thanks for all the responses.

Many sites recommend one sticks with a single car and a single track
when learning. I tried some hot lap setups but there is still no go.
May be it is just me.

Thanks that nobody raise the point that I should race on-line. I think
I fall in either "idiot" or "loser".

Try looking at it this way - the reason for driving GPL is because its
fun. Me, I'm no good either, but I have fun whenever I fire it up so
I'm a winner every time.
By the way, might you still have throttle or braking help on? - they
slow you down.

You really ought to move up to Grand prix cars and start trying the
other tracks. The skills that you learn elsewhere will help you to go faster.
Monza only teaches you two braking points and a couple of slow corners.
Experiencing and learning the more difficult tracks will improve your
driving a lot. This is proven by everyone who's started with a gplrank
up in the 500's. They're all gradually getting faster. My first rank was
320 and now it's 10.8.

Practice, learn, apply.

To sum up, thank you very much for all the suggestions.

I was posting to see if I was fast enough and good enough. I think
perhaps I need to go better with the exit speed and trail braking. May
be I should start running other faster F3 cars and tracks. I agree
with Allison that Cooper, regardless class, is a very descent and fun
car to start with.

Griffin.
