I have both the old and the new version of GTP. Is there an easy way of
converting the cars that come with the old version to the new version?

....a very simple way - just copy the .gtp.cars  from the old daytime/cars directory to the new RDgtp/cars directory.  Then copy from the old nighttime/cars directory into the new RDgtn/cars directory.

Poof, they work!

Oh there's a way alright and insead of one simple installation it's a
HUGE hassle!!!
