GTR2002 tire wear?

by Russell Keatin » Wed, 21 May 2003 09:32:25

I am running the 1.2 patch of GT Racing 2002.  With tire wear set to
"normal", I don't seam to have any tire wear at all.  Even if I go out of my
way to burn up the tires, the wear bars on the damage indicators never show
anything.

Is this a known problem?  Are the tires on these cars so durable or what?

I have all the option turned to their most realistic setting.

Thanks,
Russell

That's a really good question... I have the 1.2 patch too, and I've noticed
those bars never moving, BUT I feel as though the tires wear. I go for 3
stop strategies on full races, because I'm *** them, and towards the
end, I do feel the carr being lose.. maybe it's purely mental.

I always thought those bars must be for brakes, since they weren't moving
for the tires... and I figured they were really really good brakes that
never wear :)

maybe someone can clear all of this up..

I haven't really noticed whether the tyre wear indicators actually change,
but the tyres do give up after a while (and in a hurry if one abuses them).
I don't have an explanation for you not experiencing the same.

The hard tires will last most of a fuel run.  The softer tires will give
up sooner, and certain BRANDS of tires last longer than others.
Brake wear is modeled...just put your damage setting to time scaled, you
will be lucky to have brakes near the end of a race.
The indicators are for tire wear.  If you get the tire temps showing
yellow, then the tire wear bars will decrease more rapidly.
