New computer problems (slightly OT)

Hi, just changed my PC to run GPL, but I seem to be having a few problems
and was wondering if anyone here could help.
The system is a P2 333 with 128MB RAM, BX M/Board ATI expert 8MB & Monster
voodoo1 4MB with an Aureal Vortex A3D soundcard.
The problem seems to be with the soundcard, with GPL using a Thrustmaster F1
wheel, the steering is very jittery, the problem seems to be not so bad in
Propanel's TM scope, but it's still there. The wheel seemed OK on my old
P166, but that didn't run GPL too well so I may be wrong.
Also the sound in MGPRS2 seems to alternate between the 2 speakers very
rapidly and sounds terrible.
Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks in advance Ian Parker

PS. I feel I now have GPL version 2. Gone from 12fps to 36fps.

Lots of people are reporting problems with PCI Soundcards. Mine is driving me
nuts! I cannot run more than 5 laps in F1RS without the sound going away or the
game freezing. In GPL I had problems with my sound going away after one of my
"all-too-frequent" wall banging incidents until I cut back on the sounds to
"12".

The jittery steering problem with the TM wheel is probably a dirty pot. The PCI
card's gameport is very sensitive, but a good cleaning with some TV tuner spray
should clear it up. Mine started acting up yesterday, so I gave it the "20
minute overhaul", new bungee and a good pot cleaning and I was good to go! Give
it a try.

Best of luck,
