New Patch - " Invulnerable damage cheat? "

I'm beginning to wonder if the Fixed setups are being "Fixed" too. I saw
some unbelievably quick cars in a few Fixed pickup races lately.

1.1.0.1 seems to be compatible with 1.1.0.2; But if that is the case, how
can that solve the multiplayer bug "* Fixed a cheat which could allow for a
client's car to become invulnerable in multiplayer races."?  It seems like
there needs to be more stimulus to get everyone to install the patch.

Which tracks, and what sort of times are you talking about?  The fast
setups that shipped with the game are pretty damn good, at least by my
standards.  While they're so-so tire wear wise, as far as the pure lap
times go they aren't bad at most tracks.  Usually the difference
between a good setup and the default fast setups is a few tenths of a
second (maybe) and much much better tire wear.

Now if someone is rattling off 54's at Pocono on yellow tires, or
15.5's at Bristol with damage/yellow tires/an elephant strapped to the
car, then I'd be a little suspicious.  I don't think I've ever seen
anyone put up a time that surprised me in a fixed race on any of the
public servers.

You're not going to get an answer at least until all old versions have been
disabled online, and even then I'd be hesitant to publicly announce anything
since those not going through Sierra.com and using direct TCP/IP, IPX, or
even Modem to Modem racing would still be able to use affected 1.1.0.1
version since it is multiplayer compatible with 1.1.0.2.

Suffice it to say that there is no way you'd be able to detect this as a
host, and it doesn't involve any sort of hacking or altering of files on the
client's end (in fact it could even happen by accident without any conscious
effort to cheat).  The steps needed to replicate it are however pretty
obscure, so it's doubtful people would have it happen without a deliberate
attempt to reproduce it.

Then why did you make 1.1.0.2 compatible with 1.1.0.1?

If it's a mistake - fine! - Go make another patch and fix the wall-riding
problem at the same time. :-)
God knows it about time!

So, I assume that all MP support for anything other than the lastest
patched version is now discontinued?

Is the same check done for dedicated servers?

Yes, any server or client connected to Sierra.com now needs to be
patched to 1.1.0.2.  If you have not yet updated, you will be prompted
to auto-update when you try to connect with an out of date version.
