Hi
Got my GP2 last night and it installed very quickly with no problems.
I am running a Pentium 150 MHz, Diamond stealth video card, using
SB16, and the TSW steering wheel. Many different menus to go through
for the different options, and tracks load very quickly
The first track I went to was Germany, with sky turned off. The frame
rate was around 20 with my processor. My first impression was the
graphic detail of the tracks is so much better the INDY2 and the sound
effects of the different items that the car would hit was outstanding.
I havent figured out yet when I go into the tight chicanes how to stop
tire lockup when car goes into first gear.
I tried most other tracks especially Monoco, and that track was very
acceptable to me for driving, i forget what the frame rate was. I didnt
see any jerkiness in any part of the track.
I did a few quickraces at Germany, and started at the front and at the
very rear. At the front going into the first turns, the cars go through
the turns very quickly, and dont have to slam on brakes to avoid cars.
At the back the cars get all bunched up in the first few turns, and it
is a different feal racing with these cars then in INDY2. It will take
me a while to get used to the new AI driving. Once through the first few
chicanes, the cars spread out vey well, which makes easy passing down
the straights. My best finish so far is third, at amature rating.
I have never raced the original GP1, and I am very satisfied in the
performance of the tracks and cars. I know some of you know more what to
look for since you have had the original GP1, and I have been reading
your reviews.
Thats my quick review at this time, its back to racing. Be interesting
to see how the racing leagues form and use GP2 under league conditions.
Bye for now,
