Red line in Nascar2

Red line in Nascar2

I was watching the Bud shootout today.  They had onboard
telemitry in Sterling Marlins car. Down the back straight his engine
never went over 6750 rpm.  When I setup  gear ratios in Nascar 2,the
red light on the dash doesn't start to flicker until 8700 prm.

Just what is the real rev limit for a nascar engine?

<<Just what is the real rev limit for a nascar engine?>>

It varies from track to track. The reason the engines rev so
relatively lowly at the restrictor plate tracks is because that is where
they make power. The car is geared not to do any more or less. They
typically turn around 8000 rpm peak at most other tracks. Some do more
in qualifying.

Depends on whose engine it is, but most redline somewhere around 8500.

with the restrictor plate, 6700 or so, without it, about 9200
