Do you use manual or auto transmission?

Just curious as to which type of transmission people use while playing
racing games.

For PC games I use manual.  For console game I primarily use automatic;
I find the controller harder to shift with; I have a wheel with paddles
for the PC.

Sometimes I get messed up and accidentally go to neutral when
downshifting; that's a wake-up call when I hit the throttle. :)

Manual - PC.  I don't play consoles very often...

Auto, like I do in real life, but I get annoyed that games don't model
auto gearbox performance properly - no kickdown most notably.

Then you must also race with a giant slurpee 'tween your legs and a cell
phone velcro'd to your ear.  We Americans have been multitasking long
before windows show'd up.

Hmm...I'm an american as well.  But I use manual in games because in MOST
cases, it's noticibly faster.

Manual all the way :) Ever since I picked up an ActLabs RS Shifter
anyway. I'm also using an old gravis joy-stick as a clutch and it works
pretty decent actually. I just haven't had as much time to play around
lately as I would like due to courses, but that's life I guess.

Yep - it's a great song! :-)

For real?  Dunno - never had to drive in one.  I also don't like manual trans
in real life.  Been there, done that, it's a pain in the ass during rush hour.
But, wtf does that have to do with the choice of transmission in the game...?
