Yes, the introduction has sound.  BTW, you only get to see the intro
if the CD is in place.

Uhmm...not exactly true...as Don pointed out a few weeks ago, if you make a
full install, and then copy the file from the CD "intro.smk" to your N2
directory (warning...it's ~25MB), and change the n2.bat file to point to your
hard drive instead of the CD, then you don't ever need the CD (for single
racing) and you can get the full intro.  I like to play it every once in
awhile cause it IS pretty cool :-)

Ben:

Yes, there is sound during the intro.  It is some type of heavy metal
riff.  Not to be negative, but it gave me a headache and I gave top
priority to circumventing the intro when starting N2 and going directly
to the game.  I imagine that if you heard it, you may do the same...
You are not missin' much, my man.

I am not sure, but I don't think the intro uses your sound config
for the game.  I have a ProAudio System sound card and the only way I
get sound in the intro is to turn on the SoundBlaster emulation on the
card.  I have a hunch this may be the only emulation which will produce
sound in the intro.

I think the question was whether there was sound on the menus, or maybe
I'm thinking of a different post.  Unlike Nascar1, there is no sound in
the menu of the game when it first comes on.  But yes, there is sound in
the video intro.
you can skip the intro by either editing the n2.bat file or just type
nascar2 in the
nascar2 directory.

If you can spare the space, install the entire game to your hard drive.
You don't need to have the cd to run the game, and the intro is skipped.
I kinda liked it.....but only the first time!
