TAR still breathes!

Saw this at GA Sports:

Trans-am Racing Update - PC - Racing << 01:24 AM CST
Yesterday our hosted site High Gear reported that Trans-am Racing was
canned. Well Dan from OS did some digging and found out that the game was
not cancelled. Here's the scoop from GT Interactive directly: "GT is
currently searching for a new developer and has every intention of releasing
Trans-Am Racing '68-'72. We don't have a projected release date yet."
All this means is that we _may_ one day see that game. By no means will it
be anytime soon though...

If you read between the lines at www.eai.com, you will see that it appears
EAI is the company in trouble.  They have had many subsequent losses and
are probably trying to streamline a little. Still, "searching for a new
developer" does not sound promising.  I for one would hate to try to pick
up someone else's code and finish it.
