ICR - Help !

by Richard Freem » Tue, 30 Aug 1994 05:38:29

I've just bought ICR V1.05 and was also wondering where the road
texture was.  Thanks for the info Ken.  Looks like I'll have to
get that extra 4Mb earlier than I thought.

As a newcomer, I'd be grateful for some advice:

I've spent all my time so far at Milwaukee, and have managed to get
upto 167MPH in practice.  Unfortunately the car is so fidgety that
as soon as I actually race anybody I tend to fly into the barriers
or other drivers.  I'm running 7' Rear and 9' front wings,
stiffest Anti-roll bars and 1" stagger.  My tyres seem uniformly
(IMO) hot, although Front Right is well over 300' for most of the
race.

The thing is - I don't know if this is a good setup or not.  Should
my car be so fidgety ?  Or is this a consequence of being on the
limit ?

I think what would really help would be an example setup (a good
one, but not necessarily someone's prized super-duper secret
formula) with explanations as to WHY a 13' rear wing with minimum
ARB's and soft shocks is better than 7' with Full ARB's and
suspension at 100%. My problem seems to be that I have so many
variables to adjust I find it very hard to optimise them,
especially as I don't know what a 'good' setup feels/behaves like.

Can anybody help me ??

Richard Freeman, do you deny telling Sheriff Hartman the following:

I'm probably way off base here but I was having the same problem.  I could
drive qualifying laps and get pole position, but as soon as the race started
it was demolition derby time.  On my system the big problem was that the
frame rate dropped dramatically with all those other cars on the road.  I
went into the options menu and cut back the number of opponents way down,
and I found I could control the car again (and I didn't have as many
obstacles to dodge).

I don't know if this is Your problem, but it's a suggestion.
