I don't know how much more a Microsoft Sidewinder FF Wheel or a Logitech
Formula Force GP would cost, but I'm sure either are preferable over that
one.

Alternatively your friend could try finding a 2nd hand, old model, calble
driven LWFF in good condition. Can't possibly go wrong with that one
provided he can get used to the pedals.

Saiteks support for their X36 joystick and throttle has been hideous,
which would make me leary of buying any Saitek products.
I've never used this wheel, but it looks kind of cheesy.
If I had to have force feedback for minimum price, I'd either get the
Microsoft Wingman FF for $120 or the Logitech Formula Force which I
think can be found for under $100.

Maybe their friend doesn't have access to newsgroups like this and the guy
is just trying to help out.  Ever think of that ?  Why in the world would he
hide the fact that it was actually him who wants the wheel ??

Don't know what the issue is here the wheel is fine, and the pedals are the
nicest I have ever used.

The only issue I have with it is that the drives XP are only in beta, but
then again I have had no problems with mine.

I do really like that pedal design as well... makes a lot more sense for
trying to simulate regular road cars and such.

How do you know it's NOT for a friend?  Don't assume...

Well, before your post I hadn't read anything about it to merit recommending
it, both in games press and on the internet. But fair enough... what other
wheels have you tried? -Can you reach the buttons at the top without moving
your hands on the wheel?

Everything for XP seems to be "in beta". ;-)

Seriously, an oversight on my part. I don't have any intention of upgrading
from Win98se anytime soon and so didn't stop to think about possible issues
with current operating systems.
