installed on a following PC:
- ATI Radeon VE 32 w/ DirectX 8.0a + latest drivers
- Abit KT7A (VIA chipset, "4 in 1" drivers updated)
- 256 MB DIMM
- Windows 98 SE
- "sufficiently" temp disk space
The constantly reoccurring problem is such nuisance as
the program terminating mid-play and throwing one back
to windows; a hint may be the message that is in some
instances displayed in an error dialog box about "Ddchelp"
terminating or something thereof.
It isn't really dependent on the time one has played the
game (ie. heating or something), it can occur after two
laps or ten laps -- or come to think about it, I've never
"managed" to play so many laps, at least back to back...
;^)
I've re-installed the DirectX and the October release
Radeon drivers and disabled the Vsync from the display
adapter controls. I somehow doubt that he memory would
have anything to do with it.
I've got decent frame rates of 30+ fps and the program
seems to function properly otherwise (unless one counts
the unfathomable tendency of the controls to every now
and then not work when entering gameplay (=cockpit)
from the track main screen -- the wheel and throttle
simply don't work, and sometimes it takes a few tries
of switching back and forth between the screens to make
it function).
I've also tried removing graphics details but that hasn't
solved the problem either, so recently I've elected to
just drive around with max. details for the few laps the
game allows me... Apparently, 2-hour races are rather out
of question in the current situation.
Any help is appreciated.
