indy car 3 or GP3 ?

by Ian Arne » Tue, 30 Mar 1999 04:00:00

I have heard rumors of both Papyrus and Geoff Crammond, Microprose, either
working on or proposing to develop Indycar
racing 3 and  Formula One Grandprix 3 respectively.  I was wondering
if anyone out their would be be able to clarify this and if so would they
be able to leave web addresses so I can check out images or the games in
their developement stages.  If these rumors are true I believe both will be
impressive looking back at their last creations GP2 and GPL.

Thanks

Both are still on the "rumor" stage.

We all know that Grand Prix 3 is in development, I think that Microprose
officially said it now, no ? There's no images for both titles btw.. no
screenshots, just some basic info.

CART Racing is probably only in early stages of development
(pre-production).  I figure that they normally think about what they will do
after Nascar3 before it's out, so it must be soon.  I guess you won't seem
them until at least the year 2000 and even more...

As for GP3, the best place to go is to check out some Gp2 website, they
might have some info there, like http://www.grandprix3.com/

One of the rumors about gp3 is that its going to be very hush hush until the
last minute of development. If you remember gp2 was reviewed in a beta form
and most fans and magazines went absolutely crazy as they waited a good 5
months before the game actually was finished. Geoff Crammond "really" doesnt
want to finish under that pressure again.

ICR3 will probably be after Nas3 just as all before it.

I wouldn't be suprised to see ICR3 (CART2?) delayed 'cause of the 'talks'
between the IRL and CART....supposedly IRL may become the Indy Lights series
and CART will get the 500 back....

Sarcastic comment #1:
IRL?  Are they still in business?  Huh.........

Sarcastic comment #2:
Hmmm... Tony George's Prozac must finally be kicking in.

Seriously:
Though I would love to see Al Jr. come back and get #3, 4, and maybe even 5
:o)  I think CART has done a magnificant job of showing that they don't need
Tony, his attitude, or his drivers crowing that "now that the big boys are
gone, we finally have a chance".

Papy -- do CART, do it right, and leave IRL to the swelled heads in Redmond.
Spec racing and M(ediocre)S(oftware) - they were made for each other.
