Hey all-
Odd - when I was 17 (about 8 years ago), I drove a '68 Firebird 350 -
red with black top. It was a rusty old thing... and I never got pulled over
at all... I did have a trooper ask for my drivers liscence when I was just
sitting in the car at a park - smoking a cigarette. I handed it to him, he
checked up on me, and then took off after giving it back to me - go figure.
Well, I must admit a cop did try to pull me over once - but I escaped
in the car (night, drove x-country, etc - LONG story) w/ no tickets or
identification of my plates.
I got my 1st speeding ticket driving a 1984 Nissan king-cab owned by
my mom... who knows. 2nd speeding ticket (5 years later) was in a 1980
Honda Civic owned by my girlfriend. 3rd speeding ticket was in my 1987
Nissan Stanza (65 in a 55!) I don't get it at all... I got all of my tickets
in cars that can do 0-60 in 13seconds and have a top speed of less than
100mph.
Hmm... can't wait to get my next project running ('68 Firebird 400) and
see what happens then.
BTW - what is the best way out of getting a ticket - lying about your
wife/kids in the hospital? Running for it in your super car? Shooting your
way out in a stolen car :) ... I'm sick of getting piddly tickets - I feel
that I'm being targeted because of my age (25), not by my driving (which is
pretty good - only one accident in 9 years). I mean if I got a ticket for
going 90 in a 35 zone, I would feel that it would be proper - I got busted
for doing something stupid. But 35 in a 25? 65 in a 55? You can easily
let your mind wander for a second and exceed the speed limit that way.
