Has anyone noticed that AI cars that come in the pits after you leave about
two seconds before you do?  Am I doin' something wrong or are they takin'
two tires? <g>  Anyone?  Thanks!

I have had the same experience, I was running a full length Tally race, was
in 6th position on a caution stop, took 2 tires and a little bit of gas and
came out in 29th. TP

That is not likely, it was after about a 35-40 laps of green flag racing. TP

Maybe they only pitted for fuel?

Well this isn't going to help you right at this moment.....BUT.......
In the latest beta patch for the trucks one of the items listed as being
fixed is AI pit times under yellow.

Well, I think the AI gets better tire wear.  Anyway, how close were you to the
end of the race?

Go into the replay of the race and check the AI car speeds coming out
of the pits.  I noticed the same thing at Papy's version of Daytona.
The cars were sitting on pit row for about the same time as me, but
would fly out of pit row going 140 - 150 mph!!!!!!!!!!!  Also, have
you noticed that the AI cars can go the perfect speed in the pits?  If
the speed on pit row is 45mph, damn if they won't hold a steady 45mph!
I tweaked the Daytona pit AI to take care of these problems and
haven't had a problem since.  To test the AI cars, set the pit window
between 2 and 3 laps in the track.txt file and see how they do.  This
is how I practice pitting along with the AI cars....  Hope this helps.

I was at about 80 laps from the end, I knew that I could go about 45-46 laps
on a tank of fuel, so I'm thinking stop one more time, and when they ran out
of fuel, I could come from behind and win, They stopped with 80 laps to go
and finished the race without another stop. TP

You know, this has pissed me off for a while now.  I thought I was the only
one not figuring out pit strategy in the sim.  I thought I was watching my
mileage and tires ok, but everytime I would pit I would lose lots of
positions and the AI cars could seem to run forever on tires and fuel.  Any
ideas?
