Found GPL at a Brit site. $19.00 shipped to the US new!

If even half of the hype I have heard about GPL is true, I am sure I will be
pleased.
Should arrive in about 6 days.

Whoooo heeee!

Good luck! It sure is worth it.
I saw it in Holland just 1 or 2 weeks ago, for only Dfl 9,95, that's
about USD 4. :) But money is no obstacle for this wonderful and
inspiring game.
Played Black & White yesterday btw (and very OT), that is sure one
original game too! (but a Settlers-type of game a bit, although I
haven't too much settling ;-))

B&W seems like a great game in the beginning, but once you get to the
actual game itself it's merely a very weak real time strategy game :(
Nice game though if you're into Tamagochi's :)

Yeah I saw a few on Ebay but I have been burned by ebay twice
so I am much happier to just pay a few extra bucks from an actual
store.

Off topic - I remember racing against you on VROC.  You knocked me out
at the Parabolica.  Do you know what brakes are for? :)  Just kidding!
It was a blast.  Reminds me of an Andretti shunt at the end of the
straight at Long Beach.  :)  Take care.

Where exactly did you see it? I'm looking for a spare copy, just in case,
but can't find it anymore.

Hi Therron!

Well, I've had GPL for 2 weeks, and the minute I first runned it, the damn
thing got me by the neck. If you don't already have it, get yourself a good
FF wheel.
Also make sure you hardware is up to the deal: you'll need at least a
PIII-500 MHz and a good graphics card to get the whole kicks out of it (you
can read a lot about this and more here on r.a.s. and also on
http://www.simracing.com/alison/gpl/ and many other sites)
If you still don't know what all the fuss is about, the whole thing comes
down to this: GPL is *the* racing simulator. Not an arcade game. Period.

As to the rest, happy racing!
Ah: take a red pen and start crossing the days on you calendar...

I'm extremely fine with my PIII-450MHz and a Matrox G400

Todd,
are you sure?

off some stuff to get the constant 36
I.E.:
detail bias down to ca. 30%
this two lighting thingies
mirror refresh every second frame
no hands
mirror detail medium
no 3D wheels

I can throw in all options, but it gets jerky at about 10 players.

There seems to be some discrepancy on the performance of identical systems

than on a Celeron466+RenditionV2200+SB16, using direct hardware access

I almost for sure think that the Sound Blaster 16 bit-ISA card on the
Celeron is sucking too many resources. I haven't tested this throughly but
I've read that sound cards can be a real issue on GPL.
