You can, however, build an assortment of replayable starting grid positions
by simply abandoning the event anytime after the practice session is
complete, responding "Yes" to the save prompt, and then renaming the saved
game file from "spa.svg" to "spa Ferrari Grid 3.svg", for example.
To keep things orderly, consider creating a new folder like
"C:\SIERRA\gpl\players\YourLastName__YourFirstName\Saved Games" and moving
all your renamed saved games there. Then, when you feel like doing a Spa
event starting from 3rd on the grid in the Ferrari, as in the example above,
simply copy "spa Ferrari Grid 3.svg" from your saved games folder into
"C:\SIERRA\gpl\players\YourLastName__YourFirstName" and rename it "spa.svg".
Keep in mind that saved game files override your current car selection,
forcing you to drive the car in which you originally qualified.
Want to be able to start from the pole against the AI whenever you choose?
Easy. Just dumb-down the AI by setting the value of the NPT_Override to a
value that will allow you to grab the pole. Then once practice is complete,
save the game as described above. Next, bring the AI back up to strength by
either setting NPT_Override = 0 or to some faster value. Then put the saved
game into "C:\SIERRA\gpl\players\YourLastName__YourFirstName" and prepare to
be punted by some irritated AI driver if you're not up to the task! If
nothing else, it teaches you how and when to get out of the way!
