N2- Lock up at Martinsville

by Vince Toplos » Fri, 26 Jun 1998 04:00:00

I seem to be having a problem with N2 whenever I race at Martinsville.
Here's the problem:

I was at my eigtht race of the season (Martinsville) and I
periodically pause the game to see who is the leader and who has
retired.  I noticed that some of the retirees did not have the reason
for failure (i.e. gearbox, engine etc.),  they just had the number of
laps they were down.  This was the first time this has ever happened.

The game ended and I went to check the standings screen to see the
final results.  I went back to race menu and instead of 'Race Over' it
still read 'Race'.  I clicked on 'Race' and I'm just sitting there in
the pits.  I escape this and try 'accelerated time'-nothing happens.
I click on race and I'm sitting in the middle of a field!!! and the
game has locked up.

I raced a second time and quit after 120 laps.  I accelerated the race
and the SAME thing above happened.  A third try also proved futile.

I did change the Martinsville file to include all 39 cars in the race.
Is there another switch I should have changed? Please tell me there's
a solution since I don't want to s***my season.

Thanks,
Vince

I am not sure exactly how this works, but I am pretty sure you have too
many cars for this track.  The README.TXT file indicates that for
Martinsville the maximum number of cars is 36.  I think that since you
have too many cars some of them do not have any assigned pits to
"retire" in or to enter at the end of the race.

Try an accelerated race with only 36 cars in the martinsvil.txt file.
If the race will "officially" end this should be the culprit.
