Coasting with steering wheel

Coasting with steering wheel

I have been using a joystick with my EA Nascar sim and although it is
harder to steer than a steering wheel, I could let off the gas and
coast into corners. I have just recently purchased an interact 280-V3
steering wheel and although I like the steering elements of it, it
seems that even with pedals it is either in an all throttle mode or
all stop mode which makes it hard in short track courses. Even with
the button on the steering wheel that you use when not using pedals is
the same way. Are all steering wheels like or is there something with
mine or am I doing something wrong. I would think that it should let
you let off the gas and coast.

Thanks in advance

No, you should have more analog or gradual feel to your inputs.  I suspect
the Interact is merely a console gamepad shaped like a wheel.  So pressing
the throttle is the same as pushing the X button on a gamepad.
Good Wheel/pedal combos allow you to squeeze just the amount of power that
you need.  However, some very good wheels have pretty crummy pedals...do a
little research, like here, and you'll find some pretty good combo's.

Dave you have hit the Nail squarely on the head!!!!  The V3 is a digital
pedals meaning on off, with I am not sure but I am pretty sure the same for
the wheel!  there ar a bunch of people trying to use these POS's online,
Obvioulsy...

My V3-SV280 has analogue pedals - I know this because the pots are starting
to wear out, and I've had them out to clean them ;-)

(Does anyone know where I can find new pots?  The shafts are shorter
than the standard ones in the RS catalogue, and have flats on them to
accept small pinions.)

Sounds more like a calibration problem to me.

V3 is not digital, nor are the pedals "on off".  When set-up properly, the
V3 works exactly like a good wheel/pedal set-up should.

Either the V3 drivers aren't installed properly (necessary for full
functionality) or there's a calibration issue.  The V3 is a decent product
for the price and I spent many, many hours with one before switching to a
LWFF.  If I didn't want FF I'd likely still be using the V3 (my wife uses it
now).
